Biofoam practices the art of conservation in three ways: monetarily, environmentally, and healthfully.
Whether you’re managing a building with 1,000 tenants, or running a household family of four, everyone is interested in saving money so Biofoam installations are designed to pay for themselves in cost savings within 3-5 years.
Biofoam’s Sealed Systems can lower your heating and cooling costs.
Biofoam installed insulation solutions reduce air leakage, which makes HVAC systems overrun and waste energy.
Biofoam installed roofing systems stop thermal shock.
Biofoam’s waterproofing and coating applications prevent moisture and humidity from slowly destroying your structure.
Biofoam insulation inhibits mold growth that makes your space uninhabitable—exposing you to expensive repairs and the threat of lawsuits.
But we also believe that saving money while destroying the environment will eventually cost us all in the long run. That’s why everything we do is designed to be “earth-friendly”:
Biofoam uses products containing renewable agricultural content
Biofoam roofs may never need to be torn off, replaced, or carted to a landfill.
Biofoam-installed systems qualify for LEED Building Credits.
Biofoam does not use products that emit VOCs (volatile organic compounds)
And of course, without your health nothing else matters, which is why at Biofoam we are focused on creating a safer, more comfortable, and healthier indoor living environment. We can help look at the entire structure—not just the portion we are working on—to make sure all necessary components of a healthy indoor environment function together as one eco-system by:
maintaining even temperatures
balancing humidity levels
lowering toxicity levels
creating proper vapor barriers

Save 5-10% a year by simply turning your thermostat down by 10-15 degrees for eight hours each day while away from home. Programmable thermostats are easy to install and can be purchased at your local hardware store. (Nicor Gas Energy Spotlight, 12/09)

CFLs will save about $30 over its lifetime and pay for itself in about 6 months. It uses 75 percent less energy and lasts about 10 times longer than an incandescent bulb. (energystar.gov)

It makes good sense to schedule annual inspections and cleanings of your HVAC system. A qualified HVAC contractor can ensure your system is running properly, clean heating and cooling coils, and check for gas leaks that can be deadly. You should also change the air filters in your furnace every 3 months as clogged filters make the furnace work harder, wearing it down faster. (Nicor Gas Energy Spotlight, 12/09)

There are many reasons why windows and doors fail: loose glass that needs re-glazing, a broken seal between the sash and frame, or just simple age and wear. Regardless of the reasons, the cost of replacing your failed doors and windows is dwarfed by the cost of wasted energy over a lifetime of using them. (www.epa.gov)

Energy-efficient appliances may be more expensive, but like Biofoam they pay for themselves over time by reducing your costs to run them. There are standard energy use tags attached to most new appliances that can help you determine which one will be the most efficient. (www.epa.gov)

Turn off your computer and monitor when not in use. Plug home electronics, such as TVs and DVD players, into power strips; turn the power strips off when the equipment is not in use (TV s and DVDs in standby mode still use several watts of power). (US Dept. of Energy)

An open fireplace flue dampener robs your home of heat and causes your furnace to run overtime, while skylight windows and patio doors are notorious for leaking air and allowing moisture inside. (US Dept. of Energy)

A home energy audit will pinpoint which parts of your house use the most energy and suggest the most effective measures for cutting your energy costs. You can conduct a simple home energy audit yourself, contact your local utility, or call an independent energy auditor for a more comprehensive examination. For more information about home energy audits, including free tools and calculators, visit www.energysavers.gov. (US Dept. of Energy)
