Biofoam work on Wisconsin residence helps lead to LEED Platinum Certification
As one of Wisconsin’s first homes to be submitted for LEED Platinum Certification, owners
of the Osborne-Scekic residence in Racine, WI hired Biofoam because of its reputation of
attention to detail.

Working with architect Johnsen Schmaling, and General Contractor John Beggi, Biofoam
had one goal: to build to best home possible. And that quality would be greatly affected
by the construction of the building envelope itself.

Using our state-of-the-art equipment to install eight sets of 2-pound closed-cell foam,
Biofoam installers got the job done right, on time, and safely. The building was protected
from the cold, wet winters along the shores of Lake Michigan, and the building was awarded
LEED Platinum Certification. Click on one of the images below to enlarge.

Biofoam nominated for 2010 SPFA Industry Excellence Award
Biofoam was nominated for the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance (SPFA) Industry Excellence
award in the Residential Wall Foam category for two different projects:

The 100+ year-old Materson residence in Lincoln Park, Chicago, started as a Lutheran
Parochial school and was converted into a rental apartment building and then a condominium,
before becoming an 8,500 square foot single-family home. Biofoam worked with Chicago
architects Sullivan, Goulette & Wilson, and general contractor Crescent Rock Construction
to re-design this historic building under the City of Chicago “Green Permit” program. Using
a combination of open- and closed-cell foam, Biofoam’s goal was to maximize the building’s
envelope performance while minimizing wall dimensions.

Using our state-of-the-art equipment to install eight sets of 2-pound closed-cell foam,
Biofoam helped the owners of the Osborne-Scekic residence in Racine, WI become only
the second home in Wisconsin to be awarded LEED Platinum certification. The exceptional
performance of Biofoam’s installers enable this home on the shores of Lake Michigan to
withstand the cold, wet winters of the upper Mid-West.
